A little note about you.

You are completely unique, your needs, your goals and the way you respond to life. Health for you is also unique and one thing that I have learnt from managing my own health condition is the importance and value of listening to what I need. Tuning in and trusting my own intuition has allowed me to understand my body and what it needs in a way that no text book, journal, paper or clinician could.

Now of course there is so much incredible information out there, and so much value in the research and evidence base that can inform us and our decisions. Alongside this there is so much influence, from our friends, from social media, or from family that it can feel at times incredibly overwhelming.

So simply start with YOU. What feels right. What feels good.
Absolutely use the science, but make sure it fits with you and your needs, your life, your body. I am going to give you an example here. Bob knows that for him he needs to get at least 8 hours of sleep to feel at his best and Bob absolutely values feeling this way. He wants to feel well, he wants to feel energised and optimised for the day ahead. So Bob places value on his sleep and sets very clear boundaries with his family. He goes to bed at roughly the same time, has a set routine to help him settle and he really prioritises the quality of his sleep. By being clear with the people around him he is protecting what he needs and as a result Bob feels he can live his best life.

The themes in this are:

  • Negotiating

  • Listening, tuning in and intuition

  • Setting boundaries

  • Value

  • Action

  • Balance

How often do you find yourself actually listening to the cues and messages that your body and mind send to you? How often do you ignore them, or find yourself doing something while inside you know that something feels very wrong? Perhaps it’s time to have a listen and see what comes up.

Hugs from Jan.
